St. Paul Jr. High Youth Activities
On Sunday, October 5 junior high students from St. Paul the Apostle will join the Quad City area with the annual CROP Walk.
Please join us by walking or making a donation.
Students will be at all of the masses September
27-28 to take pledges and distribute information.
On October 4th 5th we will collect money
with our "blue bowl" campaign.
CROP is the name given to the nationwide
community-supported hunger education and
fundraising events sponsored by Church World Service. This program
supports sustainable self-help development, meets emergency needs, aids
refugees and helps address the root causes of poverty and hunger. CROP
has been around for a long, starting in 1947 just after World War II when
Church World Service and partner agencies collected crops such as corn,
wheat, rice and soy beans for shipment to war-torn Europe.
Around the world and around the block. 75% of the total amount raised
by the Quad Cities area CROP Program is spent in other parts of the
world where Church World Services works in partnership with other
agencies like Churches United. Our local CROP recipients are: Kids
Cafe Program, Meal Service of Scott County, Geneseo Food Pantry,
Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley, Expanded Food and Nutrition
Education Program, Humility of Mary Housing and Churches
United of the Quad City Area.
A global chorus of voices is calling to make poverty history. We have
the resources, we have the knowledge, but do we have the will. Please be
generous with your time and money! Please help us make a difference in
helping those in need.
If you are interested in walking in this year's CROP Walk with call Lynn
at 563-322-2923 Ext. 247 or 563-210-2059.
The walk begins at Modern Woodmen Park with a Rally at 12:30 p.m.
and Walk/Run at 2:00 p.m.
WE WALK BECAUSE THEY WALK
