Stewardship is a Way of Life
We return a portion of our time, talent, and treasure to a generous God. Our parish shares a percentage of its income
with the parish ministries and charities such as: Churches United CareLINK, St. Paul’s Works, Embracing
our Future (Scott County K-12 Catholic Schools), and St. Paul’s Charity Fund. At this time we share a full eight
percent of our parish envelope income with these parish charities. At the school level, students practice stewardship
by contributing to various agencies and their activities including:
- Collecting milk lids and pop tabs • Serving meals at Café on Vine
- Making varied contributions to Project Renewal, Ronald McDonald
House, Holy Childhood
- Collecting supplies for schools in Nicaragua
- Collecting goods for the food Pantry
- Gathering gifts for the Mother Teresa Christmas
- Providing a Thanksgiving meal for senior citizens
- Entertaining at nursing homes in the neighborhood, among other things.

Board of Education
As the 2008-2009 school year draws to a close, the St. Paul's Board of Education concludes another
fulfilling year. The majority of our year was spent in discussion over our ever increasing
school population. Although this is a great problem to have, with 96% classroom capacity we
discussed many options for future growth. These thought-provoking sessions were broken down
into both short and long term goals.
After a parental input discussion in January, the Board agreed with the parents and teachers that
solutions to our space issues needed to be addressed, whether it included additional classrooms
within our present school environment or expansion goals for our building. The Board came up
with a four-year classroom growth plan to be executed as a need arises. This includes additional
classroom space within our buildings as well as temporary classrooms. Long term goals of
building expansion were looked at with the help of parent and architect John Mahon.
The help that Father Mike and Dan Ryan give are incredible. Teacher and parental support have
made our roles easy to execute. Lastly, my fellow Board members have made my time on the
Board a welcoming experience. I wish to thank Lori Melchert and Dan Timmons who complete
their three year terms in June.
Sincerely,
Annette Thrapp
