Committee Reports

Public Relations Committee

St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School has an active Public Relations Committee whose membership consists of school administration, teachers, Board of Education representatives, and parents. Our 2008-2009 committee members included Dan Ryan, Tara McCabe, Lori Garrett, Karen Kaalberg, and Deb Moeller. The St. Paul's PR Committee regularly meets on a monthly basis to discuss and develop ways to promote the many benefits of Catholic education, both within St. Paul the Apostle parish and throughout our community by interfacing with the Scott County K-12 Catholic School Marketing team. We are proud of the marketing materials our PR Committee has developed and updated on a yearly basis, such as the Family Information Booklet, Preschool/Day Care Information Booklet, and the Alumni Newsletter, as well as routinely submitting press releases, bulletin inserts, and information for our school's "Wednesday emails" to highlight the many events at our school and achievements of our students. New PR activities in the 2008-2009 school year included the implementation of a teddy bear program for newly baptized infants and the return of Grandparent's Day. We are proud of our school and proud to promote the four hallmarks of Stewardship, Academic Excellence, Family, and Catholic Values that define who we are.

FUTURE CLUB

The Future Club was formed by a group of dads in the late 1980s for the purpose of developing a retirement plan for teachers and staff that previously was nonexistent. Today, the Future Club provides $25,000 per year for retirement and other benefits for our teachers and staff as well as assists in keeping the school's physical facilities up-to-date. Some of you may wonder about the impact of Embracing Our Future, the fund drive to benefit all K-12 Catholic schools in Scott County, on the St. Paul Future Club. This campaign provides for need-based tuition assistance, faculty and staff benefit enhancements, and a comprehensive marketing program. Will the need for Future Club be eliminated by Embracing Our Future? Probably not. If Embracing Our Future provides $18,000 for teacher health insurance and retirement benefits each year, there still exists a significant gap between this amount and the roughly $60,000 of benefits provided to teachers. In summary, I hope that you will support Embracing Our Future so that today's Catholic school education will continue to create the successful adults of tomorrow. Likewise, I hope you will also support the Future Club so that we keep St. Paul the Apostle School one of the best in the area. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Tom Melchert
Future Club President
