Women’s Choice Center
Looking to volunteer?

Do you have 4 hours or more a week to give? If so, the Women's Choice Center is holding a volunteer training session on Saturday, August 7th from 9:00AM-3:00PM at the Center located at 2711 Happy Joe's Drive in Bettendorf. The Center is in need of receptionists, data entry clerks, client advocates, and general office help. Please contact Vicki Tyler at 332-0475 to reserve your spot.

The Sacred Heart Food Pantry @ the Center needs volunteers willing to pick up donated food one day per week from the Hy-Vee Food Store, 2351 W. Locust St.

The food is brought to the pantry located at 1411 Brady St. Between 9:00AM & 11:30AM. Pick-up quantity is usually one cart of food, (broken/damaged cans and packages). Pick up days needed are Monday and Friday. Please contact Keith Perry (Pantry Manager) at 381-1400 or Deacon Bob McCoy at 355-8289.

PRAYER OF MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT- The Holy Spirit calls all of us to prayer. This retreat will explore the different kinds of prayer: Devotional, Meditation, Centering Prayer and Contemplative Prayer. Experience which prayer, at this time in your life brings you best into union with God. Presenter: Sr. Catherine Cleary, OSB. MA in theology, MS in Psychology, certified in Biblical Spirituality. Fri., Sept. 10, 7 pm – Sat. Sept. 11, 7 pm. Registration 6-7 PM. Fee $85.

THE WORD AMONG US - Read, reflect, pray, and share with other committed Christians seeking to grow in reflecting on the challenges of Scripture for everyday life. Participants are given a guide and encouraged to read and reflect on a Scripture passage each day. Presenter: Sr. Charlotte Sonneville, OSB. MA in Pastoral Studies and Graduate studies in Scripture. Mondays-7-8:30 pm, Aug. 30, Sept. 13 and 27. $5 per session + cost of books.

A BOOK CLUB- We will focus on THE SHACK by Wm. Paul Young, a religious novel that made the NY times Paperback Best Seller List for many weeks. We‘ll also consider the basis of the author‘s presentation of Biblical mys-teries: the will of God, the Trinity, human freedom suffering and forgiveness. NON-VIOLENCE IN THE 20th CENTURY AS PREPARATION FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
Father Brian Miclot, who teaches the Eth-ics of Peace & Non-violence at St. Ambrose University, will provide an oc-casion for prayerful reflection on peace-making in the 21st Century by illustrating some of the key persons of the 20th cen-tury who have paved an effective, lasting method of resolving the stickiest con-flicts . Thurs. Sept. 30, 7-8:30 pm – FREE-WILL OFFERING.
