Atonement Service
Bishop Amos will be presiding over an Atonement Service at our parish as part
of the process of healing the pain from sexual abuse and to bring us together, united
in the body of Christ. It is a time to acknowledge the suffering of those who experienced
abuse, their families and for parishes, the laity and the clergy. All are invited
on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 6:30 PM for dialogue, reflection and prayer.
Everyone is invited.
We will come together first in our Gathering Space.
Someone will be available to direct you.
Question of the Week - September 7, 2008
Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
(The Message of Reconciliation)
- Reading I: Ezekiel 33:7-9 (Warn the Wicked)
- Reading II: Romans 13:8-10 (Love is the Fulfillment of the Law)
- Gospel: Matthew 18:-20
(A Sinful Brother)
As you hear this reading today, what hits you in it?
What word or phrase catches your ear?
Step Two: Look into Your Life
Question for Children: What do I do when I feel hurt by a relative or a friend? Can I ask Jesus to help me deal with the situation?
Question for Adults: In what ways might I have allowed my faith to become a matter of routine and mental assent rather that a personal relationship? What changes might I make?
