Altar and Rosary Society

Mission

The mission of St. Paul’s Altar & Rosary Society is to cultivate and promote the greater devotion to Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar through Our Lady as Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, likewise to employ such ways and means to secure the adornment of the Sanctuary of the Most Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady’s shrine.

Membership

All women of the parish are members of the Altar & Rosary Society.  Society dues are incorporated within the stewardship way of giving.

Circles

Altar & Rosary has seven (7) circles, St. Anne, St. Bridget, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Gerard, St. Joan of Arc, St. Jude and St. Theresa.  Circles members are the “core” of Altar & Rosary.  Circle membership encourages a more active role in Altar & Rosary.  Circles generally meet on a monthly or quarterly basis depending on the members and leaders of the circle.  Circles monthly duty roster is noted within this handbook.

Circle Activities and Duties

  • Vigil Lights:   Circles are assigned weekly cleaning of votive glass holders.
  • Donut Sunday:   First weekend of each month beginning in September after the 7:30 am and 9:30 am masses.
  • Funeral Luncheons:  Circle members provide salads, desserts, hot dishes and workers as needed by the Funeral Luncheon Coordinator.
  • Hostesses at General Meetings:   As noted in the handbook, the circles assigned to host one of the 4 general meetings provide a door prize of $5.00 and provide a small meal or dessert.

Altar & Rosary Society’s Responsibilities to St. Paul’s

  • Communion Hosts, Wine and Candles: Altar & rosary purchases all wine, candles and hosts used at weekly and Sunday masses.  A Eucharistic Fund has been established for memorials and donations to assist with these expenses.
  • Vigil Lights:  Altar & Rosary cares for the vigil lights and stands.
  • Altar Linens: Care and purchase of all linens used at mass.
  • Church Cleaning:   Altar & Rosary coordinates church cleaning two times per year.

Altar & Rosary Events

  • Parish Festival:  Altar & Rosary provides desserts and workers for the event.
  • Membership:   Altar & Rosary hosts one event during the year to encourage new membership to circles.
  • Holiday Bake Sale and Mini-Bazaar:   This event is our only fundraiser of the year held the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Money raised is used to fund projects and to meet our financial responsibilities for the parish.
